yeah there goes that darkness
Yo la Tengo:
"We Didn't Start the Fire"Yo la Tengo played their annual all-request show on
WFMU last Monday. A track listing can be found at
Sunsquashed. I haven’t found any mp3s of it yet, but also at Sunsquashed you can
download their entire 2004 set. It’s ridiculously huge, about 120 mb, but it runs for almost two hours, and is a prime way to kill some time at the office. They don’t always play the songs correctly, but it’s pretty consistently entertaining, if you like the band, I guess. So I split a few of the tracks up, and I present one for your edification here today, on this glorious Spring morning, a Spring morning that should eventually end with one of those fantastic Spring snowstorms that help make Boston so fuckin’ hot. Here’s our band’s rambling take on
“We Didn’t Start the Fire”, that stone-cold classic by
Nation of Ulysses. I first heard the original in a Pizza Hut on Roswell Road down near the Just Wallpaper, across the street from the building I wound up getting married in. I wanted it to be our first dance, but that damned female refused. We're headed straight to splitsville, since day one.
Oh yeah, what do you think of the new new logo? I think it sits on a plane equidistant between rad and retarded, but I'm drunk. At 9:00 am. At work.
